Some months back when I asked my பேத்தி why she is not drawing often, she curtly replied, "My career as a painter is all over!".

So worried very much about her "career"! But somehow she has started some coaching for drawing. Wish she continues with interest. Just before going for the classes she drew these three pictures - probably refreshing herself!

It was a long time since any of Moni's pictures was posted in this blog. I was telling her in one of our chats that she has not sent any drawing for the blog and asked her to draw something.

The very next day she gave this picture to her mum and asked her to send it to thatha. She also explained that it is her room and also the TOOTH FAIRY. Moni said that the tooth fairy came in a horse to pick her fallen tooth.

Since i have not seen her room I asked her mum to send the photos of her room. I found she has very clearly shown the important toys in her room – the tall stand in the corner and colored boxes. And then … the dark sky with a crescent moon. The fairy is riding the horse.

I wonder how come she was able to visualize a horse and draw it so well. I know I can never draw a horse like her just from my imagination. Even the mane of the horse is there in all detail. Marvel at the signs of a great artist in her!

PRE K4 - CLASS OF 2009

15th June, 2009 - This is the GRADUATION DAY for Jessica in her school, St.Virgil's.

On this day, parents are preparing a book to present to the teachers of their kids with a photo of every student in the class. Instead of just giving a photograph, Jessica's mother thought of giving a sort of collage. When she started preparing it, Jessica asked what she was doing. When she explained, Jessica wanted to present her gift to her teacher.

பேத்தி வரைந்த இந்தப் படம் பார்த்ததும்தான் அதை உடனே சட்டமிட்டு வீட்டில் மாட்ட நினைத்தது.

இந்தப் படம் வரைந்து கொண்டிருந்த போது அவளது அம்மா 'இது என்ன?' என்றதும், 'This is a horse' என்றிருக்கிறாள். அப்போது அவள் வரைந்திருந்தது "உடம்பு" மட்டுமே. ஆகவே, அம்மா ' எங்கே .. தலையைக் காணோம்'என்றிருக்கிறாள். 'Oh!' என்றவள், அந்தக் கருப்பு பாகத்தை ஒரு இழுப்பு இழுத்துவிட்டு போய்விட்டாள்.

நானும் அதை என் ஓர் இடுகையில் அதைப் பதிவாக இட்டுருந்தேன். அதை என் மகள் அவள் மகளிடம் காண்பிக்கும்போது, Oh! that picuture. i drew the head wrong' என்று சொல்லிவிட்டு சென்றுவிட்டாளாம்.

அப்டின்னா தலையை எப்படி வரையணும்னு நினச்சாளோ தெரியலை; அப்படியே இருக்கட்டும்.

She has drawn this picture when she came to know that next day was her father's birthday. She said that she wanted to draw picture of a rainbow for him and started drawing this.

But after a few minutes she felt that her drawing was not becoming what she wanted it to be! So she simply scrawled few lines in the middle and discarded it.

But I still find it good ....... !

அப்பா வழியில் அப்பாவைத் தவிர மற்ற எல்லோரும் builders தான். மேலிருக்கும் இரு படமும் சின்ன பெரியப்பாவின் புது அலுவலகம். ஆனால், மார்ச் மாதம் பால் காய்க்கும்போது கட்டிடத்தில் எந்தவித colour paints ஏதும் கிடையாது. அப்போது வந்திருந்த ஜெஸிக்கா, இந்த அலுவலகத்தின் கீழ் மாடியில் இருந்து வரைந்த A4 சைஸ் படம் கீழே உள்ளது.

வரைந்து முடித்து படம் சுற்றுக்குப் போனபோது 'பரவாயில்லையே .. நம்ம குடும்பத்துக்கு அடுத்து வரும் future architect இவள்தான்' என்று பேசப்பட்டது!

7. பரட்டை

வீட்ல இருக்கும்போது தலை இப்படித்தான் பரட்டையா இருக்கும். அதனால நான் கூப்பிடுறது "பரட்டை". ஆனால், சீக்கிரமா 'மொட்டை'ன்னு சொல்லக் கத்துக்கிட்டு என்னை மொட்டைன்னு கூப்பிட ஆரம்பித்தாள்.

ஒரு நாள் .. இந்தப் படம் வரைந்து (முகம் மட்டும்) 'பரட்டையைப் பாருங்கள்' என்று வந்து காட்டினாள். 'என் க்ளிப் கூட இருக்கு' என்றாள்.

'ஆமா, தல மட்டும் இருக்கே. உடம்பு எங்கே?' என்றேன்.

'இந்தா' என்று நின்ற இடத்திலேயே பென்சிலை வைத்து நாலு கோடு போட்டாள்;

அம்புடுதான்!

4. அப்பாவும் அம்மாவும் - குழந்தைகளாய்!

After seeing her own photo in the previous post, Jessica had this following conversation with her amma:

Jessica: Amma, why thatha has not placed any of your and appa's photos?

Amma: I dont know. You better tell him to add them.

Jessica: No. Just wait.

She goes just for a few minutes and comes back with a new drawing.

Amma, send this to thatha. He will put it here.

Amma: What is this?

Jessica: That is you and appa when you were kids.

When I received the scanned picture, I am again wonder struck. (அவள் படங்களைப் பார்த்து பிரமிப்படைவதை இனி நிறுத்திக் கொள்ள வேண்டும்!)

This time I wondered how she was able to make two figures, a definite male and female, with such a few strokes! Each one has a smiling face and just four or five strokes making them look a male and female, distinctively.

3. முதல் பிரமிப்பு

எப்போதும் கையிலே தூக்கித் திரியும் அவளது பென்குயினை - Oreo-வை - விருந்துக்கு சென்ற பெரியப்பா வீட்டில் தொலைத்து விட்டு வந்து விட்டாள். ஆனால், அதற்காக அதிகமாகக் கவலைப்படாதது போல் தோன்றியது. ஆனால் இரண்டு நாள் கழித்து, மேலே உள்ள படத்தை வரைந்து என்னிடமும், அவளது அம்மாவிடமும் காண்பித்து, ' I miss my Oreo so much' என்ற போது பாவமாக இருந்தது.

ஏறக்குறைய ஒரு வாரம் கழித்து அவளது Oreo கண்டுபிடிக்கப் பட்டு அவளிடமே வந்து சேர்ந்தது.

இரண்டு விஷயங்கள் எனக்குப் பிரமிப்பளித்தன. ஒன்று: எப்படி நினைவில் இருந்து அவளால் அவளது Oreo-வை வரைய முடிந்தது. என்னதான் கையிலேயே இரவும் பகலும் வைத்திருந்தாலும் இந்த வயதில் அதை மனக்கண் முன் கொண்டு வந்து எப்படி வரைய முடிந்தது என்பது.

இரண்டாவது: நானும் அவள் அம்மா இருவருமே Oreo-வின் இற்க்கைகளுக்கு நடுவில் என்ன வரைந்திருக்கிறாள் என்பது புரியாமல் முழித்தோம். Oreo வந்த பிறகு, அதனைப் பார்த்ததும்தான் புரிந்தது. அந்த பொம்மையில் அவள் வரைந்த டிசைனிலேயே அதன் கழுத்துப் பகுதிக்கு மட்டும் மஞ்சள் வண்ணத்தில் தனிப் பகுதி இருந்ததைப் பார்த்தோம். எங்களிருவருக்கும் ஆச்சரியம். நாம் இதுவ்ரை அதை அந்த அளவு உன்னிப்பாகப் பார்த்து நினைவில் கொள்ளாததை அவள் மனக்கண்ணில் கொண்டுவந்து வரைந்த்திருக்கிறாளே என்ற பிரமிப்பு ஏற்பட்ட போதுதான் இந்த வலைப்பூ ஒன்று ஆரம்பித்துவிட வேண்டுமென்ற எண்ணமே தோன்றியது.

2. முதல் ஆச்சரியம்

நான் முதன் முதலில் இவள் நன்றாகப் படம் வரைவாள் போலும் என்று நினைக்க ஆரம்பித்தது இந்தப் படம் பார்த்த பின் தான். தனது பெரியப்பா வீட்டுக்குத் தனது Orio-உடன் சென்றிருந்தாள். அங்கே அவளது 8-ம் வகுப்பு படிக்கும் தமக்கைக்கு அதை 'அறிமுகப்படுத்த', அந்த 13 வயது தமக்கை அதைப் படமாக வரைந்திருக்கிறாள். அவள் வரைந்து முடித்ததும், அதைப் பார்த்து இவளும் வரைந்து கீழே தன் கையொப்பமும் இட்டிருக்கிறாள்.

வலது பக்கம் இருப்பது தமக்கை வரைந்தது. அதைவிட ஜெஸிக்கா வரைந்த படத்தில் அந்த scarf அழகாக, free-flowing-ஆக வரைந்திருந்தது எனக்கு ஆச்சரியமளித்தது. அதுதான் முதல் ஆச்சரியம்.

ஜெசிக்கா ஷ்ரேயா - என் பேத்தி. (நான் : தருமி) வயது 5. கையில் ஒரு காகிதம் கிடைத்துவிட்டால் உடனே 'படைப்பில்' ஆழ்ந்து விடுகிறாள். எப்போதும் கையில் ஒரு சின்ன soft toy; பென்குயின் பொம்மை; பெயரும் வைத்திருக்கிறாள் அதற்கு. Oreo. படம் வரைய கையில் ஏதாவது கிடைத்துவிட்டால் அந்தப் பென்குயினும் கூட மறந்து போய் விடுகிறது.

நான் ஒரு காலத்தில் வரைய மிக ஆசைப்பட்டேன்; பெரும் முயற்சிகளும் எடுத்து, தோல்வியே கண்டேன். 'சித்திரமும் கைப் பழக்கம்' என்பதைத் தவறென நிருபித்தது எனது தனிப் பெருமை. ஆனால், பேத்தி வரைய ஆரம்பித்ததும் மிக்க மகிழ்ச்சியாய் இருந்தது. அதுவும் அவள் பென்சில்களைப் பிடிக்கும் முறையோ, free hand-ஆக கோடுகளை அனாயசமாக இழுக்கும்போதோ ஆச்சரியமாக இருந்தது. பேணி வளர்த்தால் நன்றாக வரைவாள் என்று தோன்றுகிறது.

'காக்கைக்கும் தன் குஞ்சு பொன்குஞ்சு' என்பதுபோல் அவளின் 'கிறுக்கல்கள்' எனக்கு ஓவியங்களாகப் படலாம்தான். இருந்தாலும், அவள் உள்ளே நான் இருப்பதாக நினைக்கும் திறமையைத் தட்டிக் கொடுத்து மேம்பட வைக்கவே இந்த வலைப்பதிவை ஆரம்பிக்கிறேன்.
